It’s a street photographer’s dream come true. No Italian city is as good for colloquial photography as Torino.
From street art to political flyers to weekly demonstrations, there’s always something new and relevant to capture. Newsworthy, even.
You just have to remember to keep a camera on you whenever you leave home, or at the very least, a mobile phone that takes good photos.
This last week is an excellent case in point.
From an ad campaign for a magazine cover story on the Nazi occupation of Torino to Palestinian and Kurdish solidarity protests, there was a lot to shoot.
Even then, I still missed a Fridays for Future protest against city development plans today. It’s a luxury to have so many options.
That’s why we decided to name our photography newsletters Aperture Priorities. Photography is a big part of what we do and feature content in its own right.
It’s time we framed it a bit more clearly and shared our weekly image trolling in a more formal way. Battleground Contact Sheet #1 is the start.
On a final note, we use editorialised captions in the spirit of The Economist. We often employ irony and publish photos for documentary purposes.
If an image is upsetting to you, we feel that way too.
