New Book Announcement
Germany's Jewish Problem, by Wieland Hoban
The Battleground is proud to announce the forthcoming publication of Wieland Hoban’s Germany’s Jewish Problem: Genocides Past and Present, by OR Books.
The print edition of Hoban’s Battleground eBook, German Apartheid Politics: Memory, Democracy and Genocide, Germany’s Jewish Problem will be available in October exclusively through the OR website, followed by bookstores in April.
The Battleground would like to express its gratitude to OR for making this happen. We couldn’t have found a more appropriate partner than the groundbreaking and progressive New York publisher.
Few journalists capture the crisis of contemporary Jewish life in Germany better than Wieland Hoban. Consisting of articles published in The Battleground from 2020 to 2024, Germany’s Jewish Problem demystifies the country’s transition to democracy.
Penned by the leading English-language translator of 20th-century German philosophers, including Theodor Adorno and Walter Benjamin, Hoban’s critique is sophisticated and heartfelt, and firmly within the tradition of leftist Jewish thought.
Battleground books, including German Apartheid Politics, are temporarily unavailable from online retailers, while we transition to Faber Factory for distribution. In the interim, our catalogue will soon be available from the Google Play Store.
